The CJRS scheme ended on 30th September, with claims for September to be submitted by 14th October 2021, and any amendments to be made by 28th October.
In May 2020 almost 9 million people were being supported by the scheme, and at the end of July 2021 1.6 million people were still on furlough. According to estimates from the Office for Budget Responsibility the cost will come in at around £66billion, which equates to around one fifth of the money the Government has spent on the Covid response.
As at September 2021, £1.3billion had been returned by employers buoyed by the UK’s economic recovery.
